mostly so that when u put the water in it doesn't explode pasta, but i don't know if that happens with regular mugs for sure so test at your own risk. i use a set of wide mouth mugs btw, they seem to work best ♥. a fork - for eating and stirring/folding the pasta, except when u stir/fold use the back (bottom) of the fork because u can't stir with a fork. ♥. a small (not paper) plate - to put the mug on when the water overflows (it's gonna happen), don't use a paper plate for this obviously lol ♥. elbow/macaroni pasta (1/2 cup) - it's best if the pasta is like, the small kind of elbow pasta, but i've also made the recipe with -big- elbow pasta so it should work fine either way. just make sure it's like not over half of the cup or the pasta'll overflow in the microwave ♥. water (1/2 cup) - tap water's fine, it should be 1/2 cup but also make sure it's a LITTLE over the pasta, but only just a little bit though because if there's too much water it won't cook right and it'll be watery and gross ♥. shredded cheese (1/2 cup) - i usually do a handful or two but i have small hands so that probably isn't very accurate of a measurement. basically just put in however much you want, but don't put it in like all at once or it'll be really hard to stir »»----------------------------------------------------¤----------------------------------------------------«« ♥.·:*¨¨*:·.♥.·:*:·.♥.·:*¨¨*:·.♥ •·.·´`·.·•STEPS/HOWTO•·.·´`·.·• 1. pour the pasta into the mug (make sure it isn't more than half or the pasta'll overflow in the microwave- if it does you can either throw it out or scoop it back into the mug, but i usually throw it out if that happens lol) 2. pour in the water (or just turn on the tap and put the mug under, i usually do that). it should be like just a LITTLE, like BARELY over the pasta but also not more than half or (repeating from the ingredients) it won't cook right and it'll be watery and gross 3. stir the pasta in the mug so it isn't sticking together 4. put the plate in the microwave, then put the mug on top and microwave for 1 minute 5. after 1 minute, open it up and stir the pasta again so it doesn't stick. if any water overflowed (it usually doesn't happen the first time but), just pour it off the plate into a sink (...or anywhere else you drain liquids/do dishes) and put it back in the microwave. 6. microwave again for 1 minute (repeat step 4) 7. repeat step 5, but this time water probably did overflow (usually a lot for me) so pour it out (and be careful because that water's like really hot) 8. repeat steps 4/5, except microwave for 30 seconds 9. repeat steps 4/5, except microwave for either 30 or 15 seconds- it depends on how cooked the pasta is, really. if it still looks kiiiinda watery but also not really then do 15 seconds, if it looks really watery do 30 seconds. and if it isn't cooking for some reason you can try putting in more water BUT that's always a slippery slope and might screw things up, idk i don't do it often because of that 10. if it isn't done, keep cooking in 15-30 second intervals, but once it's done take it out and stir/fold the pasta with the back of your fork until it's all loose/not sticky 11. pour the cheese on top and keep stirring/folding until it's not chunky and stringy like shredded cheese is (you can put in more if it doesn't look like enough to actually taste something, however much is your choice) 12. enjoy! »»----------------------------------------------------¤----------------------------------------------------«« ♥.·:*¨¨*:·.♥.·:*:·.♥.·:*¨¨*:·.♥ •·.·´`·.·•RECIPENOTES•·.·´`·.·• ♥. my microwave is 1100 watts, so please keep that in mind if you replicate this recipe ^^ ♥. the pasta won't be like perfectly cooked as it usually is if you're actually cooking it because this is cooked in a microwave so expect it to be a LITTLE hard/chunky, but it should be edible lol ♥. i used to put in a small pinch/sprinkle of salt (yes i hate that in recipes too so if you want a measurement 1/4 tsp is a good equivalent) when i started making this recipe but there isn't much of a difference in taste unless you put in more so that's entirely optional (i haven't used salt in a while so i didn't put it in the ingredients list)
